Building Livelihoods - Like many forcibly displaced from Artsakh, Albert Adamyan fled his home in Haghorti with his family of six, carrying little more than hope. Through Tufenkian’s Livelihood Support Initiative, Albert is now raising pigs, helping to build a stable future for his family in Syunik.
Albert Adamyan: "When we left Artsakh, I didn’t know what the future held for my family. Starting over felt impossible. But here in Shinuhayr, with Tufenkian’s help, I’ve been able to start pig farming. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s something I can build on. It gives me hope that my children will have a better life."
Others, like Masis Asryan and his family, are raising cattle because of the program, re-establishing their livelihood and dignity.
Masis Asryan: "Leaving our home in Artsakh was devastating. We had nothing when we arrived. Tufenkian’s support allowed us to stand on our own feet again. It means we can start to look ahead; not just back."
Albert and Masis represent a growing number of displaced families from Artsakh who have found refuge in Syunik and are leveraging Tufenkian’s support to rebuild their lives; combining the agricultural experience they brought with them with the resources Tufenkian is providing
Keeping Families Warm - Now that winter has set in, warmth is essential for survival. Many displaced families in Syunik live in homes without access to natural gas for heating. That’s why we launched a Winterization Initiative, providing 200 families with traditional wood-burning stoves, built by local metalsmiths. Coordinated by Tufenkian’s Goris office and the Syunik provincial government, Tufenkian also supplied 400 cubic meters of firewood to ensure these families stay warm through the harsh winter months.
This Giving Tuesday, join us in continuing this vital work. Your gift will help displaced families rebuild their lives, stay warm this winter, and find hope for the future.
Revitalizing Villages – We are addressing the pressing challenges of depopulation, degraded infrastructure, and lack of economic opportunity in rural Syunik through our Syunik Village Revitalization Program.
By resettling displaced Artsakh villagers, we not only provide them with permanent homes, but we also help to provide the human capital required for Syunik’s villages to flourish. Through investment in critical physical and social infrastructure, the program works to rebuild communities and lay the groundwork for prosperity and sustainable growth.
Our holistic approach focuses on modernizing agricultural practices and expanding economic opportunity while addressing needs in healthcare, education, and community development.
Together, we aim to ensure a brighter future for both the host population and resettled families, contributing to the prosperity and security of Syunik and Armenia for generations to come.
